What to expect
Once your appointment has been scheduled and reserved with a deposit, I will send you all details and wardrobe suggestions within a day or so. If you would like to email me your outfits prior to our session I would be happy to give you advice on what would or wouldn’t work so we have everything all set on the day of. If you chose to ask my opinion on wardrobe please make sure to read thru my guidelines first and email me your option 72 hours prior to your sessions so adjustment can be made if needed.
Typically sessions are around 30 minutes to max 2 hours long depending on the package selected. If you have hired a HMUA you will need to arrive 30 mins prior to your appointment time to get hair and make up started.
Hair and make -up
HMUA (Hair and Make-up artist) is highly recommended for all ages for best results.
If you don’t have a pro hair and makeup artist set up for your session, then you need to arrive hair and makeup ready. Kids should look age appropriate.
Wardrobe can make or break a session so I highly suggest following my guidelines and getting approval from agency if necessary. I like rich jewel tones to make the images pop. Most agents prefer no white, grey, black or pastels, busy graphics or large logos (unless it specifically calls for a certain type). Patterns are ok as long as they are small as they tend to be less distractive. Layers such as jackets, vests, cardigans are great and looks great on photos. Make sure clothing is form fitted. It’s generally best to use smaller clothes for shoots that well fitted.
For older kids and adults it's important to portray specific character looks with wardrobe instead of just using clothing that you like. Especially if you book 3+looks. Think preppy, sporty, nerd, all american girl next door, business type, soccer mom etc. or whatever types you generally go out for. The character specific outfits should look authentic and not staged or costumed like cosplay. I highly suggest that you talk to your agent/manager and discuss with them what they prefer.
I am happy to look at your clothing options and give you my advice on any changes if needed. If you choose to go that route please email them to me at least 72 hours prior to the session so adjustments can be made if needed. It’s best to send images with your child wearing the clothing so I can see the fit as well.

Baby, it's cold outside...
Please make sure that when you shoot outdoors with me in the winter months that you select winter appropriate outfits so your child is not cold. Even though we live in California it can get very chilly in the mornings and freezing kids don't do well on photoshoots! Layers, jacket, vest, tights, fitted sweaters are perfectly appropriate options for your session and they will still look super cute on photos. Attached some examples below. When shopping for clothing I recommend you check out Old Navy, Target, GAP, H&M, Macy's, Gymboree, Janie and Jack and Crewcuts for solid jewel tone items. Remember no graphics or distracting patterns!

After your session
In about 7-10 business days after your photoshoot you will receive the lightly processed unretouched high resolution proofs in a downloadable password protected online gallery from which you can select your favorites to retouch. I also offer a rush delivey service as an add on option that will allow you to recieve your gallery 24-48 business hours after your session if you are in a hurry. Usually the agent/manager selects the favorites, so I would recommend forwarding them the gallery and asking their opinion as well. Once those are selected I will retouch them and email you the web sized versions to use for the casting sites and email. All high res proofs and print size edits will be added to your webgallery so you can download and use right away.

Please note that weekend sessions are subject to a $25 weekend upcharge per child.
Generally weekends book up weeks in advance so if you need a session fast, requesting a weekday session is recommended. I don't schedule sessions too far in advance, because anything can change. I like to make appointments within 3 months.
$150 non-refundable holding fee is required to reserve a appointment so make sure that you double check that you are available on the date that you book.
Remaining balance is due in CASH on the day of your session.

Policies and Procedures
By booking a session with Tamara Tihanyi Photography you agree to all of the policies/procedures listed below so please read carefully.
HOLDING FEE/BALANCE DUE
$150 non-refundable and non-transferable holding fee is required to reserve an appointment. The amount will be applied to your balance the day of the shoot. Once deposit received, Tihanyi Photography shall reserve the date and time agreed upon, and not make any other reservations or accept any other clients for said date and time. For this reason, in the event that you cancel or reschedule within 3 business days from appointment time for any reason, all monies paid shall be retained by Tihanyi Photography in order to offset it's loss of business.
The remaining balance is due on the day of your session and must be paid in CASH ONLY. Receipt of total payment will be provided by request for tax purposes. If you wish to pay remaining balance via a credit card, payment must be done no later then 3 days prior to appointment date and a 4% credit card processing will be added on.
Please make sure that you are available on the day selected before scheduling a session. Holding fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
72 hours is required to reschedule your session. Last minute reschedule requests and no shows will result in losing your holding fee, otherwise it will go toward your new appointment. Rescheduling is allowed ONE time from the original appointment time. Second reschedule request will result in forfeiture of your deposit even with the 72 hours notice. Rescheduling must be within 60 days of original appointment time or holding fee will be forfeited by client.
I DO NOT work with sick kids. Due to the fact that I primarily work in close proximity with children, to protect myself and other clients from catching a disease, my sick policy will be strictly observed and any child (or parent) showing obvious signs of illnesses will be asked to leave and will result in losing your holding fee.
Clients are required to cancel or transfer their session if they have shown any symptoms associated with COVID-19 within 14 days of their shoots. If client or immediate family member has tested positive in the past 30 days, a negative test is required to keep appointment. I ask that you follow all current CDC and local guidelines regarding Coronavirus safety during our session, including but not limited to the proper usage of masks when required and social distancing.
For youth clients, only one parent or guardian will be allowed at session. For adult clients, only the client being photographed will be allowed at shoot. No other guests will be allowed.
If you are late for your shoot, this will result in less shoot time and fewer images/looks as I may have another client scheduled after you. If you are over 20 minutes late, this is considered a cancellation and will result in the forfeiture of your deposit.
TIMELINE AND SESSION REVIEW
Client will receive a gallery of all proofs approximately seven to fourteen (7-14) days after Client’s Photography Session date. Rush delivery of images is available as an add on.
The gallery will remain active for 60 days. All images will be archived after 60 days. Once the gallery is closed, a $50.00 dollar fee will be charged to resend gallery.
In order to receive your retouches complimentary included in your package you must select the images to retouch within one month from your original session date. After one month you will lose your free retouches and will be charged $15 for basic retouching for each image that you wish to edit.
I do not offer retouching on sessions that are older then 6 months old, so please make sure that you make your selection in a timely manner.
RE-SHOOT & REFUND
I will only offer a free re-shoot/refund in the case of technical issues on my part.
Free re-shoots will NOT be offered for reasons such as clients clothing choice, dissatisfaction of makeup/hair, client facial expressions, uncooperative subjects (including babies, toddlers) or things beyond the photographers control.
AGE AND OTHER LIMITIATIONS
I currently offer sessions from ages 4 years and up. Child must be able to follow directions well. For any clients under 18 years of age, a parent or legal guardian is required to be present during session.
I do not offer sessions to children of other headshot or kids photographers.
Absolutely no pro cameras or videography allowed during sessions!
